TEHRAN -- Iranian journalist Masoud Behnoud was sent
to Evin Prison on Wednesday because of a temporary detention order after being interrogated for seven hours and informed of his charges.
Behnoud had been summoned to Branch 1410 of the public court dealing with offenses committed by civil servants, on Wednesday to be informed of 85 complaints filed against him by the prosecutor.

Behnoud was well-known during the days of the Shah, but was unable to work in the first decade after the 1979 Revolution owing to his support for the former monarchy system, DPA reported.

After Mohammad Khatami became president in 1997, he joined the pro-Khatami movement and wrote columns for several reformist dailies, which have since been banned.
